document.writeln('I have this theory, that when you are looking for something, you don\'t always find what you want, however you will always find something that you need. This is the Side Show Clothing Co story.<\/font>

I like books, old books mostly. I like to go to a particular second hand book store in Melbourne, Australia. Its in the basement of a suitable old building with no elevator and gargoles on the roof. As I descend the old marble stairway that leads down there, the noise of the street and the cares of the world drift away, to be overtaken by the smell of old paper and the gentle rustling of pages.

During one of my expeditions, in search of some old children\'s books for the little person of the house, I made a wonderful discovery. There tucked in between the Enid Blighton was a bigger book, clearly in the wrong place, sitting seductively proud of all the other books.

I took it from the shelf and looked at the binding and felt the cover. There was no marking on the front and the slighlty worn spine had words that were almost unreadable. I opened to the first page and saw some wonderfully decorative ink drawn artwork that appeared to be turn of the century. I turned another page and another, it was full of old French advertising art, unmistakeable old, but somehow modern in theme. Some of the most amazing objects, scenes, animals and people all drawn with incredible detail. I knew then that this book could not be left alone. I paid for the book with a single gold coin and left.

Some days later I sat down to have a real good look at this wonderful find. The books publishing date put it at well over 50 years old and some of the images were well over 100, yet as I flipped from page to page, the images lept out and almost yelled - Don\'t leave us here, let the world see us!!!<\/span>. And that\'s where Side Show Clothing was born, taking classic out of print \/ no-copyright advertising artwork and mixing it with modern popular culture, sexual slang and other stranger themes.

I hope you enjoy your time here, try not to get scared and keep an open mind. You might just find a little bit of yourself here at the Side Show.

')
